Pet Portraits

I am a visual artist so please, send me photos of your pet in the pose that you want your pet painted in. If you want a painting with your pet lying down, I would need a photo of him/her lying down. The same applies to a particular expression, ear set, tongue out etc.

I prefer clear, high definition photos, the quality of the photos you send to me is crucial to the accuracy and quality of the finished portrait. Most digital cameras are sufficient. However, if this is for a memorial portrait I can work with print photos’ depending on the clarity of the photo of course. Please make sure that you package them well so they arrive undamaged. I will return these precious photos with the completed portrait.

Some photo tips to keep in mind:

1. Take the photos outdoors in good natural light ( a bright overcast day works best) or if indoors by a window with good natural light. Avoid deep shadows, which will eliminate guess work on my part.

2. Use your zoom to get close up photos, this allows your pet to act more natural. Get close up photos of your pet’s eyes, face and head for accurate color and expression.

3. Try to keep the background light or uncomplicated unless you choose to have a specific background included in your painting.

4. Get down to your pets level if possible to take your photos, which gives a more natural look to the painting.

5. Email your photo images in several different posses, this helps me get a "feel" for your pet.  Make sure to let me know which pose you want in the painting. Please email images in jpeg format.

6. If you have any questions regarding size or composition please email me and I'll be happy to help you decide on the best portrait of your pet.
